Transitional Living Program

Transitional Living Program (TLP)

This shared housing program offers LGBTQ+ young people (ages 18–24, Indiana residents) the opportunity to live in a community together for up to 24 months. Each resident has a private bedroom while sharing common areas with up to nine peers who are also working toward independence. Together, you’ll build community, support one another, and gain the skills needed for future independent living.

The program provides:

  • Stabilization assistance and support services
  • Case management and care coordination
  • Independent living skills training
  • A holistic approach to wellness and self-sufficiency

What participation looks like:
This is an active program, and you’re expected to engage fully. That means:

  • Attending weekly House Circles for updates and community check-ins
  • Meeting with the Director of Programs every other week to track progress and address concerns
  • Working with the Program Engagement Specialist every other week on your Personal Plan for Independent Living (your roadmap to achieving your goals)
  • Joining community events and activities
  • Enrolling in school, training, or employment (or a combination)
  • Prioritizing your health and wellness
  • Completing daily chores, weekly laundry, and keeping your room clean
  • Following the golden rule — treating others with kindness and respect
  • Long-term housing (up to 24 months) created for LGBTQ+ young people ages 18-24 from Indiana
  • Co-living space: Shared housing (with private bedrooms) which creates community and fosters independence
  • Offers stabilization assistance, support services, independent living skills, case management, care coordination, and a wholistic approach to equipping residents for future independent living
  • 88% of young people who complete transitional living programs successfully move on into safe and independent housing
