Collaborative Housing Program (CHP)
Sharing a house with 9 other people isn’t for everyone. And not everyone needs up to two years to gain their independence. The Collaborative Housing Program works with LGBTQ+ young people ages 18-24 for up to 6-months, as they navigate the housing options available to them.
The Collaborative Housing Program was created specifically for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults. This is a short-term intervention for young people experiencing housing instability who just need a little bit of time and support to move on into independent living.
All of the same resources in the Transitional Living Program are available to the young people in this program.
- Short-term housing (up to 6-months) created for LGBTQ+ young people ages 18-24 from Indiana (when hosts are available)
- LGBTQ+ young people choose to live with hosts, who are vetted and trained individuals and families in our community (primarily in Indianapolis/Marion County but planning to expand statewide)
- If there are no hosts available, Trinity Haven and the young people collaborate to determine safe options for short-term housing
